Community Action: Categorizing Chests

- 6:03 pm

This time the « Gothic 3 Community Story Team », which develops the Gothic 3 Community Story Project, has thought of something truly special. In agreement and coordination with the « World of Gothic » Forum, we have decided to start a community-help action. All of you, the whole community, can help. One reason we came up with this, is because we are being asked over and over again by numerous fans, whether we are in need of any help.

As you may know, we want to implement a new chest system. With that comes a work over of the ordinary chests.
We want to remove the randomly generated chest content and supplant them with fitting objects. For example: there is a chest in Lago, in which you can find a banana and a flask with poison at some later stage in the game.

All information about the precise course of action, and how you can help, you will find in the corresponding forum thread.

We beg for active participation by the community. The more of you who help, the faster we will be able to get it done – and so will come a big step closer to our goal, which is a worthy Gothic 3!

Introduction and Explanation

Dear Gothic-Community,

This time the « Gothic 3 Community Story Team », which develops the Gothic 3 Community Story Project, has thought of something truly special. In agreement and coordination with the « World of Gothic » Forum, we have decided to start a community-help action. All of you, the whole community, can help. One reason we came up with this, is because we are being asked over and over again by numerous fans, whether we are in need of any help.

As you may know, we want to implement a new chest system. With that comes a work over of the ordinary chests.
We want to remove the randomly generated content and supplant them with fitting objects. For example there is a chest in Lago, in which you can find a banana and a flask with poison at some later stage in the game.

Every chest in the game has its own ID. The ID of every chest is saved in a bigger file, in which all chests are listed. For example: ID: 197caf33-2a5d-4d99-9873-9646d856f261…

Your task would be to play Gothic 3 as usual, but now with the difference that you let the Marvin mode turned on. To all non-cheaters, which would be the majority of you, in standard mode the « Cheat God » ability is turned „off“.

How to activate the Marvin mode you can read here: http://forum.worldofplayers.de/forum…9&#post2547269

To find out about the ID of a chest in the game, you should perform the following steps:
Take the chest in your focus, enter the console of Marvin and enter „edit“. Press Enter to confirm. You will now see the characteristics of the chest as well as the ID-number (see image). In this case you should write down the number „197caf33“.

Apart from the ID, we have to know where the chest is located, and which type of chest it is. This is because a chest in a city will be filled with other items, than one in a burned-down ruin.

We come up with the following categorization:

For the chest type there are the numbers 1 – 8
1. Chest (unlocked)
2. Chest (locked)
3. Metal chest
4. Weapons chest (heavy chest)
5. Magicians chest (old chest)
6. XXL-chest (stable metal chest)
7. Gold chest (big chest)
8. Basket

For the location of the chests, we propose to use the letters A – D

A. Chests, which stand randomly in the landscape
B. Chests, which stand next to objects like camp fires, or (undead) creatures like skeletons, etc.
C. Chests, which can be found at ruins, abandoned houses, etc.
D. Chests in villages and cities.

Apart from this information, we also have to know in which part of the country the chest is located. But more about that later.

Our chest example is located at the beach of Ardea. It is guarded by two fisherman. The correct code would be:
D/1 – 197caf33

Entries are gathered here at the top of this thread. In this first post we will summarize and list all found chests as fast as we can. That way you can check if a chest was already found. We are grateful if you can prevent any double postings of chests.

Please summarize all your dicoveries in one single list, in one single post ! Every one who helps should create only one post, and always use that one, to make sure to keep the overview. So, when you find new chests you simply edit your existing post.

Please list the chests in a chronological order, meaning that the chests you found last will end up at the bottom of your list. But you should list them according to the country you found them: „Nordmar“, „Myrtana“, „Varant“.

Please write behind every chest the date of your discovery. This will help us a lot for our summary.

We also beg everyone not to use this thread for any questions about the project. The main CSP thread is intended for that.

We beg for active participation by the community. The more of you who help, the faster we will be able to get it done – and will come a big step closer to our goal, which is a worthy Gothic 3!

I would like to thank all of you already in advance. For being able to start this action we owe our thanks to the collaborators and the „World of Gothic Team“, and especially the moderators of the German Gothic Discussion and „WernerTWC“ from the Gothic 3 Modding Forum.

And now: to work to work
